HELLA GOOD NIGHT: A Benefit Concert for Arts for Oakland Kids Date: October 23rd Time: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM Location: FLUID510 (Downtown Oakland) Tickets & Information: artsforoaklandkids.org Join us for HELLA GOOD NIGHT, the inaugural benefit concert hosted by Arts for Oakland Kids (AOK). Every dollar from ticket sales goes directly to funding grant programs that place teaching artists in Oakland’s most under-resourced public schools. Why This Night Matters to Me This cause hits close to home. Arts for Oakland Kids has been a crucial funding partner for years, supporting our work with Today’s Future Sound and our Therapeutic Beat Making (TBM) groups across Oakland’s elementary, middle, and high schools. Their support enables us to bring hands-on music production, self-expression, and therapeutic art directly into local classrooms. To show what this pipeline actually produces, I’ll be sharing the stage with my mentee, TFS student, and collaborator J.A.A.D—an exceptionally talented Oakland MC and beatmaker in his own right. We'll be setting the tone for the evening with a beat set and live collaborative performance. Performing together at this event is a full-circle moment showing the direct impact of youth arts education in the Town. The Lineup Headliner: JWALT Oakland native, NYU/Oakland School of the Arts graduate, and co-owner of the Oakland Roots and Oakland Ballers (and author of their official anthem, "Ballers' Ballad"). JWALT is a nationally recognized author, poet, and recording artist who has shared stages with Nas, Wu-Tang Clan, Common, Talib Kweli, E-40, G-Eazy, T-Pain, and Sheila E. Fresh off his latest album How Love Grows hitting #1 on the iTunes Spoken Word charts (following 2025's Love Myself, which hit #74 on the Hip-Hop/Rap charts), JWALT credits early mentorship from Youth Speaks for setting his career in motion. Opening Performance: Phillipdrummond x J.A.A.D Opening beat set and live collaborative performance featuring Phillipdrummond (Today's Future Sound) alongside rising MC and beatmaker J.A.A.D.
